Date publishedJuly 18, 2023

With the idea that energy should not be a cost for entrepreneurs but create new value for them, ENNA Opskrba, an ambitious and dynamic company of the ENNA Group, offers the service of aggregation through a virtual power plant.

Namely, HERA has issued a license to the company ENNA Opskrba to perform the energy activity of aggregation, which is valid until June 2029, enabling a step towards smart energy management.

Virtual Power Plant (VPP) on the Croatian market will, through its technological platform, integrate network users (consumers, producers, energy storage) and enable its partners to generate additional revenue from ancillary services to the system by smartly managing production and consumption in accordance with system conditions.

Virtual Power Plants (VPPs) consist of electricity consumers and producers such as solar power plants, wind farms, biogas plants, cogeneration plants and energy storage batteries. The energy needs of all the mentioned stakeholders are managed in an integrated manner within the virtual power plant system to keep the market balanced, allowing VPP service users to achieve maximum benefits brought by a wide range of entities with diverse energy needs.

Flexibility in the energy system refers to the ability to adjust production, consumption, and network operation in response to changing supply and demand conditions and manage the uncertainty associated with integrating renewable energy sources.

The aggregator (ENNA Next) communicates directly with the transmission system operator (HOPS) to maintain balance by managing network users’ production and/or consumption within its aggregation system, i.e., its virtual power plant.

The ultimate goal of VPPs is to ensure system stability while enabling network users and partners to generate additional revenue.

ENNA Opskrba has assembled a team of experts that brings together rich knowledge and experience of the Croatian and European energy markets and now offers domestic companies an innovative business model that enables them to make the best use of their own energy position.

“The virtual power plant will bring multiple benefits—it allows end users to become active participants in the electricity market, generating additional income in the process. The goal of virtual power plants is not just system balancing but also supporting sustainable development by integrating renewable sources. In doing so, we contribute to the green transition of the Croatian economy towards a more sustainable energy system,” explained Marijeta Majer, Sales Director at ENNA Next.

ENNA Next invites all business entities, electricity consumers, and producers who wish to turn their energy challenges into new opportunities to reach out with questions or express interest at poslovni@enna-opskrba.hr.
