Tomislav Bunjevac on Greencajt: The green transition is in full swing!

ENNA has supported the organization of Greencajt again this year, the largest regional conference dedicated to sustainability

Date publishedMay 24, 2024

Zagreb, May 24, 2024 – Energia naturalis again supported the holding of Greencajt, the largest regional conference dedicated to sustainability, this year. From Wednesday to Friday (May 22-24) in pavilion 13 of the Zagreb Fair, experts and "green" enthusiasts discussed sustainable practices in various industries, as well as the challenges of the green transition that shapes our present and future.

Tomislav Bunjevac, director of the business operations sector at ENNA Opskrba, participated in the panel entitled "SHIFT HAPPENS: Power-up green energy!”. He spoke about modern energy solutions offered by ENNA. He expects that in the future almost every household in Croatia will have a solar power plant and a battery in which to store the produced energy. On the other hand, he warned that large investments in electric power infrastructure are needed.

- It is estimated that in 20 years the amount of installed capacities from renewable sources will be six times higher than today, which begs the question of how the network will handle it. Some projects are already being rejected due to the impossibility of connection. Estimates say that by 2030, at the EU level, it will be necessary to invest 500 billion euros in the network in order to keep up with production needs - said Bunjevac, emphasizing the importance of batteries and other systems that reduce the need for energy transport.

Partnership with Rimac energy

In this context, he emphasized the importance of the partnership between ENNA and Rimac energy on the development of batteries for energy storage. The agreement envisages pilot projects in two locations, in Croatia and Germany, and the plan is for the pilot projects to start at the end of the year.

- The green transition is not something that will happen tomorrow, it is happening and is in full swing - said Bunjevac.

The panel was also attended by Vladimir Sabo from the company E.On Hrvatska, the president of the board of Končar Gordan Kolak and Sřren Hermansen from Denmark, director of the Samso energy academy. Before the panel, Hermansen gave a presentation about Samsř, a small Danish island, which, under his leadership, became a world pioneer in the use of renewable energy sources, with massive use of solar panels and wind turbines and central heating powered by the power of renewable energy sources.

Guest appearance by Ben Fogle

The second day of Greencajt was marked by the guest appearance of the famous BBC journalist Ben Fogle, who spoke about his life's journey and adventures, from crossing the Atlantic in a small boat to climbing Mount Everest. His message was that each of us can contribute to a sustainable future with small changes.

- When you say that you care about the environment, people immediately start calling you names for all the things you don't do, but I don't think you should be picky and ask for absolutes, because every small step we can take contributes to the bigger picture we want to achieve - said Fogle .

Greencajt took place at the Zagreb Fair from May 22 to 24, 2024.
